Reaching Generation F

Online discipleship is a fascinating topic. As I read up on this there is much I would like to pass on:
“CCC has a rich legacy and great core values. Yet like any 60-year old organization, we become prisoners of prior success. When God worked powerfully we wrote training manuals and materials to teach others how to do the same thing well. Systems and structures arose to support those processes.” more

“The under-25's are the people that have never known a time when they couldn't know more about a subject than their professors could teach in a 45-minute lecture simply by exploring the top 10 Google hits. No wonder this group is a bit skeptical of leadership authority culture based on traditional currencies such as age, position or tenure.”

“Globally, the number of college students has roughly doubled from 60 million to 130 million in the past 15 years. The fastest growing campuses are those such as the University of Phoenix, which boasts 345,000 students in 204 locations and has 75% of students taking courses online.” (Ken Cochrum is the CCC VP of student ministry)

Facebook hit 200 million users in March, in 40 languages. That's doubled from 100 million just 8 short months ago. (Facebook is a social networking website.) If Facebook were a country, it would be the world's 5th most populous nation.
“If your company hopes to attract the most creative and energetic members of Gen F, it will need to understand these Internet-derived expectations, and then reinvent its management practices accordingly.” more
